Characteristics of the Job
A person in this full-time position performs professional engineering and administrative work in connection with the planning, budgeting, design, construction management, compliance, and maintenance of all City utilities. This position manages the personnel, budget, and daily operations of the Wastewater Division and oversees the Water Utility contracted services provider. The work of this position requires the exercise of professional judgment, initiative, and collaboration with stakeholders.

Position Overview, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to apply the principles and practices of engineering and utilities as related to the preparation and development of plans and specifications for public works projects.

  • Ability to read, interpret and apply federal, state, and local rules and regulations as they apply to sanitary sewer and water systems.
  • Ability to utilize computer and engineering software programs, such as CAD and GIS, for managing public infrastructure.
  • Ability to manage construction projects, consultant contracts, and budgets.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and recommendations.

Required Training & Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum of four years of relevant experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience and education. Prior municipal and personnel management experience is desired. Registered or the ability to become registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin within 12 months of hire.

Valid Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

Salary & Benefits

The starting salary is $86,675 - $104,009 DOQ. Salary range is $86,675- $121,344. Excellent benefits package including:
