City of Mequon Assessor's Office

**Wisconsin Business Personal Property Tax**

On June 20, 2023, Governor Tony Evers signed 2023 Wisconsin Act 12 into law.   Act 12 repeals Wisconsin’s personal property tax, effective on January 1, 2024.  As a result, the 2023 personal property tax bill issued in December of 2023 is the last one that businesses will receive.   Beginning January 1, 2024, there is no need to supply a Statement of Business Personal Property to the Assessor’s Office.  Please note that businesses remain liable for personal property taxes related to reports filed in 2023 and all years prior when this tax was in effect.
