Highland Road to Close July 8 – July 12 for Final Work

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is continuing work of the I-43 North-South reconstruction project and as part of the North End Segment, Highland Road, between Port Washington Road and Lake Shore Drive, is scheduled to close to traffic for approximately five days beginning Monday, July 8 by 5:00 A.M. Crews will be working to place the final asphalt layer of pavement, permanent pavement marking, and permanent signing.  The I-43 ramps at Highland Road are also scheduled to close to traffic for approximately five days.  Alternate routes are as follows:

  • Local Alternate Route:
    • Motorists are encouraged to use Port Washington Road (County W), Pioneer Road (County C), and Lakeshore Drive to get around this closure. 
  •  I-43 Northbound Alternate Route: 
    • Motorists are encouraged to use the I-43 northbound exit ramp at Port Washington Road and the I-43 northbound entrance ramp at Pioneer Road (County C) to get around this closure. 
  • I-43 Southbound Alternate Route:
    • Motorists are encouraged to use the I-43 southbound exit and entrance ramps at Pioneer Rd (County C) to get around this closure.
